Therapy Resources

We are excited to launch our fall series: In the Kitchen with Hadley and Lizzy! At Pediatrics Plus, we are committed to promoting and encouraging healthy child development tips and activities that you and your family can try at home.

Cooking with your child is one of the best ways to make connections across and amongst many disciplines. Children learn by touching, tasting, seeing, feeling, and listening. By spending time in the kitchen with your child, you are teaching science in action; helping to lay down basic math skills, reading and time-telling skills; encouraging healthy food choices; building confidence and creativity; enhancing communication and deepening connections with your child.

Hadley and Lizzy have a fun video that you can watch with your child to learn how to make Popcorn Monster Hands and Spider Cookies. We’ve also provided a list below of fun Halloween treats that you and your family can make to enjoy together or share with your friends!

When starting on your cooking adventure, remember these helpful tips:

  • Children have short attention spans so give them quick, simple jobs
  • Give instructions one at a time
  • Expect children to spill things and make a mess; it’s part of the fun!
  • Include cleaning-up as part of the activity
