Therapy Resources

As the holiday season approaches, we are reminded of the importance of thankfulness. Since gratitude is on our minds this time of year, it serves as a great opportunity to reinforce an attitude of gratitude with your children. Pediatrics Plus has compiled a list of ways to help incorporate this into your everyday family life.
  • “Please” and “Thank You” – Your children hear more than you think. When you make an effort to say these words in your home, your children will see these as common phrases and begin to incorporate them into their daily conversations.
  • Thank You Notes – Help your children to begin this tradition at a young age. This not only assists in developing handwriting skills for young children, but it can also add value to others and set a pattern for children to take into adulthood.
  • Daily Thankfulness – Encourage a daily reflection around the dinner table where each member of the family recounts blessings from the day. Reflecting on the best part of your day can foster an attitude of gratitude.
  • Good Deeds – Make it a habit in your home to be intentional and go the extra mile once a week. For instance, you can make cookies for a sick neighbor or help someone bring in their trashcan.
Even small changes in your home can lead to lasting and impactful results. Adding these ideas to your routine can help your children develop an attitude of gratitude in their lives.
