What a Successful Camper Looks Like

Our goal is to make sure every camper thrives. Camp is best suited for children who can:

  • Stay with the group and follow simple one-step directions
  • Safely use mobility aids (if needed)
  • Participate in group and individual activities
  • Tolerate a classroom with up to 14 peers safely
  • Transition between indoor and outdoor activities safely
  • Enjoy crafts, toys, games, outdoor play, and adult-led activities
  • Accept direction from adults
  • Communicate basic needs
  • MOST importantly—have fun and enjoy a camp environment!

When Camp may not be the Best Fit

To keep all campers safe and successful, Summer Camp may not be appropriate for youth who:

  • Elope from classrooms or exit buildings unsafely
  • Cannot safely use typical playground equipment
  • Frequently display physical aggression (toward self or others)
  • Regularly bite, destroy property, or engage in unsafe toileting behaviors
  • Require 1:1 adult support to attend school
  • Have been removed from school or require homeschool due to difficulties in a group setting
  • Have a diagnosis of ODD, DMDD, CD, IED, or RAD
  • Engage in inappropriate self-touching and cannot be redirected
  • Are unwilling to consistently attend camp

These guidelines help us ensure safety and success for every child and staff member.

What Camp Looks Like

About Our Curriculum
At Pediatrics Plus Summer Camp, our curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and support learning at many developmental levels. This year, campers will “travel” around the world as we explore a variety of countries and cultures. Throughout the summer, children will engage in hands-on activities that introduce them to each country’s traditions, nature, foods, and people in fun and meaningful ways.

Our program is intentionally created to be accessible and enjoyable for campers with a wide range of abilities. While all children are welcome, the curriculum is best suited for campers functioning within a developmental range of approximately 4 to 13 years. This will help you decide whether our program is the right cognitive and developmental fit for your child.

We look forward to creating a joyful, inclusive summer of exploration and growth!

  • Classrooms include up to 15 children supported by 3 trained Camp Counselors
  • Daily schedules include learning time, social skills practice, crafts, outdoor play, and movement-based activities
  • Campers experience both group-led and individual tasks
  • Outdoor time focuses on gross motor development, sensory play, and social interaction
  • Camp Counselors are typically college students preparing for careers in therapy, education, or social work, and receive ongoing training
  • We are proud to be a teaching camp, helping develop the next generation of professionals serving children with special needs

Our goal is for every child to conquer their world and, along with our counselors, to feel successful and fulfilled by their summer experience!
